The Alexander Family

This picture is of the old Jewish cemetery in Barton Road, St. Philips, Bristol.

The tombs belong to the Alexander family who were, amongst some of the first in the country, the city aldermen (high-ranking city councillors).

Joseph Frankel Alexander prepared the Bristol Docks Act of 1848. His brothers, Abraham and William Wolfe, were honorary consuls for the Kingdom of Savoy, Imperial Russia, Frankfort and Hanover.

They had houses in Victoria Square and on Park Street.
